Weaning Stage: Building Trust and Confidence

At Monte Barrão Stud Farm, the weaning stage is considered fundamental, as it establishes the foundation for the horse’s future career in sport, leisure, or breeding. When managed correctly, this period fosters trust, confidence, and willingness, promoting long-term harmony between horse and rider. Training is overseen by Fernando Pinheiro Bonito, whose experience and dedication ensure the development of well-educated, confident horses prepared for both performance and companionship.

Following weaning, the foals progress to the next stage of handling. Daily routines involve gentle haltering during feeding, helping them become accustomed to standing calmly and fostering trust. This consistent early handling significantly facilitates subsequent breaking and training processes.
