 Growing Up Naturally at Monte Barrão

 Born and raised at Monte Barrão, our one-year-old Lusitanos spend their days in large, open fields alongside other young horses.

 At this stage of their lives, they have time to grow, explore their surroundings and develop at their own pace. Living in a herd allows them to interact with other horses while gradually becoming familiar with the people who care for them.

Each youngster has a personality of their own. Some are naturally curious and approach us readily, while others prefer to observe before coming closer. These small differences are part of what makes getting to know each horse so rewarding.

 Our one-year-olds are at the very beginning of their journey. Their bloodlines, conformation, movement and individual character offer different possibilities for the future, whether in dressage, working equitation or leisure riding.

At Monte Barrão, we believe young horses should be given the time and space to develop. Rather than rushing the process, we allow them to grow naturally and enjoy this important stage of their lives.
